In recent decades, youth movements have emerged as powerful drivers of political change across the globe. From the Arab Spring to climate protests led by Gen Z, young people have proven that they are not only participants but catalysts in shaping new political narratives.
Youth engagement brings fresh perspectives, digital fluency, and grassroots energy to political discourse. However, their inclusion in formal political systems remains limited. Structural barriers such as age restrictions, limited access to funding, and lack of political education prevent meaningful participation.
To harness this untapped potential, governments and institutions must invest in civic education, support youth-led initiatives, and create inclusive platforms for dialogue. Political parties should also look beyond token youth representation and instead integrate young voices into leadership and policy design.
